Oura-View
Beach Club Infiniti Pool
This winter the beautiful pool at the beach Club will be altered
to make it an infinity pool. How appropriate. We hope that a
lot of our Infiniti members will be using their points to go
and enjoy it (or visiting Praia da Oura on our Springtime Celebration
offer - see page 1) |
From Good to better
Members will be pleased to hear that a number of improvements
are being made this winter, including the provision of Sky channels
on the apartment televisions and revision of the seating arrangements
in the living rooms. Sun loungers are being installed on the
larger terraces, and the airconditioning in the older units
is being updated. |
Clube
Praia da Oura First impressions
Everyone who knows CPO will also know how busy the area outside
reception can be. Now the whole area is to be totally redesigned
and landscaped to make it into the Club's Central Square.
Never ending
The refurbishment of all the apartments continues and new furniture
and upholstery has been installed. The programme is continuing
to include the replacement of kitchens where needed, bathroom
improvements and work on the terraces. |
|
Grounds for applause
You might be forgiven for thinking that nothing could be done
to improve the gardens and grounds at CPO - because they are
so beautiful already - but General Manager Ana Maria Rosa assures
us that work will be going on this year to make them even better.
And didn't CPO look wonderful this Christmas? A virtual fairyland
with thousands of twinkling lights. |

Oura
Praia Hotel What's cooking?
The replacement of all the apartment kitchens is now underway
and should be completed by March of this year. Going
up!
The lifts at Oura Praia are being replaced, and by the time
you read this the work should have been completed.
Spring clean
The updating of the furniture and upholstery in the apartments
was completed at the end of 2005, so all will be spick and span
the next time you visit. |
Grangefield
Oasis Club MiniGolf
Yes, there's another facility for the families. Oasis MiniGolf
(9 holes) opened last September to great acclaim. Special lighting
is also being installed so you can enjoy minigolf or tennis
right into the evening. |

Las Palmeras proves itself
The changes made to Las Palmeras poolside bar and restaurant
have been so well worth it - ask anyone who's dined there
recently. By day Las Palmeras serves breakfasts, lunches,
snacks, icecreams and drinks, and then at night it transforms
itself into a restaurant that serves fine meals in the prettiest
evening setting imaginable. And there's even more to come...
Winter opening
Even in the winter the sky is blue and the sun shines, more
often than not, but by November the evenings are getting a
little too chilly for al fresco dining. So work has already
started on enclosing the Las Palmeras bar and restaurant in
a glass structure and adding patio-type heaters so that it
can remain open for most, if not all, of the year. (There
is, of course, an indoor restaurant, La Hacienda, on site
as well).
I feel like chicken tonight!
So I'm delighted to hear that Las Palmeras is installing a
rotisserie this winter and will serve chicken and chips, either
to eat or to take back to your apartment. A range of cakes
will also be added to the daytime menu this year, as well
as platters of cheese to be enjoyed with an early evening
bottle of wine.
The Dream Team
Adding to the total dining experience at Las Palmeras is a
team of very experienced waiters who demonstrate their expertise
nightly by preparing flambéed steaks and sauces beside
your table.
To be the best
All heads of department and managers are to be taking an advanced
training course at the prestigious Les Roches Tourism Centre
in Marbella. Specialist courses are also being organised for
Housekeeping and for Maintenance.

Vera
Beach Club Once bitten...
But not any more at Vera Beach Club, because mosquito netting
has been installed over the apartment windows. We all love Almeria
- including the mosquitoes, unfortunately - so the new netting
should make us all sleep a little better in our beds.
A major workout
A big maintenance programme, which includes an overhaul of the
gym equipment, is being carried out in the Vera Beach Club Leisure
Centre, which will make this great facility even better.
Big plans for EL Chiringuito
The poolside bar and cafeteria at Vera Beach Club is undergoing
a major overhaul this winter, plus it will be adapted so it
can stay open all the year round. Manager Carlos Fernandez has
many plans for this popular poolside spot - so watch this space!
Wedding Belle
Many members will know Vera Beach Club's charming Head of Reception,
Isabel Flores. PLeisure would like to congratulate
Isabel on her recent marriage. |
Winter at Vera Beach Club
This winter lovely Dalis' restaurant will be open all day from
8.30 a.m. until midnight, and you can enjoy the special dinner
shows - including flamenco, paella, belly-dancing (did you really
say belly-dancing, Carlos?) and live music. Sports like aqua-aerobics
(in the indoor pool, obviously) and Tai Chi will also continue
throughout the year - Tai Chi, apparently, is proving very popular
indeed with members. |
Hever
Hotel Success for Stables
Hever's new bar and restaurant, Stables, has been a resounding
success with members and guests. Lots of members have been enjoying
the half-board arrangement that was recently introduced, which
offers a choice of three dishes per course and changes three
times a week. |
|
| Interesting food facts
Manager Nigel Statham reports that the most popular bottled
beer sold in Stables Bar is San miguel. Have all of our Spanish
members been booking into Hever, Nigel, or is everyone trying
to recapture the memory of that great holiday at Grangefield
Oasis Club or Vera Beach Club? The most frequently ordered
dish in Stables is rib eye steak, which presumably goes down
well with a bottle of San Miguel.
Multinational melting pot
This most English of resorts has a surprisingly international
staff, with employees from the UK, New Zealand, South Africa,
Zimbabwe, Kenya, Brazil, France, poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia,
Thailand and the Bahamas!
Anyone for tennis?
The tennis courts have undergone a refurbishment, so it's
all systems go for a good game. We're told this is ideal for
working off the effects of over-indulgence in San Miguel and
rib eye steak.
